30 Million Pounds for Clean Seas
In October 2021, Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson and engineer Mark Rober launched the #TeamSeas campaign with a clear mission: remove 30 million pounds of plastic waste from oceans and waterways around the world. For every dollar donated, one pound of trash was collected, with funds directed to Ocean Conservancy and The Ocean Cleanup—organizations actively working on large-scale environmental cleanup. The initiative brought together online influence and real-world action. Volunteers cleaned coastlines, while systems were deployed in rivers to intercept waste before it reached the ocean. By July 2024, the campaign had removed more than 34 million pounds of trash, surpassing its original goal by over four million pounds. Plastic pollution remains a global challenge, but #TeamSeas highlights what coordinated effort can achieve.
