Having to disown my father at 30… It’s torn me apart for over half my life, he’s a giant narcissist, controlling and manipulative, and if you ask him, he’s never done anything wrong in his life because he is a Christian, and anyone who drinks, smokes, uses other substances, gets tattooed, or commits any form of “sin” and doesn’t go to church every Sunday to seek forgiveness, is less than a person to him. Finally after 20 years of mental and emotional and the occasional physical abuse years ago, I told him how I really felt and blocked his number. I told him it’s why for the last 10 years I’ve been the only one of his 3 kids who’s tried to have a relationship, my brother and sister call him for about 10 minutes on his birthday and Christmas. I’m not even going to do that going forward. I also told him it’s why our wonderful mother took us away from him 15 years ago and my only mistake was moving back 3 years ago thinking maybe he had changed and we could trust and respect each other. Fuck was I wrong.
