This is the first video on my new channel, Gonzo’s ADHD Diaries. In this introductory episode, I talk openly about my experiences with ADHD, depression, anxiety, and the reality of dealing with poor sleep and mental health struggles in everyday life. This isn’t a polished, perfect version of events — it’s just me being honest about how things have felt, how I’ve coped at times, and how modern life (and social media in particular) seems to be playing a role in rising levels of anxiety and depression. I’m not here to give advice, and I’d always encourage anyone struggling to speak to a qualified medical professional. This is simply my own experience. If sharing this helps even a few people feel less alone, or chips away at some of the stigma around mental health, then it’s worth doing. Because despite being more connected than ever online, it often feels like we’ve never been more isolated.

i started watching your channel 5 years ago, i’ve watched every video since you mean so much to so many people, hope you are feeling better
Speaking as a physician - you're stronger and braver than you think. Life is hard and stupid selfish people make it harder, avoid them - they are a cancer. Your work has made the world that much better. Speaking as a fan of your work - brilliant analysis, cheeky humor and an authenticity with humility that is rarely seen. Geo has my contact info - reach out anytime for anything. You are a good bloke and the world is better because of you, keep your chin up Mate.
Thanks gonzo, we men need to remember to open up more to each other
Stopped reading and watching the news 15 years ago. One of the best things I've done
Glad you were finally able to get this off the ground, Gonzo. I know how hard it can get to do just normal things when depression and anxiety hit. Very much looking forward to watching you on this channel. So is my wife, as she’s going through being diagnosed with ADHD and she also deals with depression. And I’m looking forward to it, as someone who deals with anxiety constantly. That’s usually why I don’t comment on every video, but the HC community has made me feel comfortable enough to participate. And I’m glad we can do the same for you to get some of this out in the open to help others.
Proud of you Gonzo, this will help so many people including myself as someone who struggles with my depression and mental health too. Thank you for being so raw and real, it’s people like you who make the most difference in this world x
Glad you’re doing this. Like few people in this thread I’ve fought depression my whole life. I’ve hit a point in my middle age where the depression particularly powerful so it’s good to hear you talking about it. It helps to know that I’m (all of us,) are not alone.
Sorry to hear your struggling mate. Kudos for you for getting this out Chris, it's gonna be a massive help to a lot of people.
Thank you for being so open in this video Gonzo. I really hope this channel can be cathartic for you. The Hammers Chat videos you and Geo do have been an integral part of my working through the grief of losing my West Ham fan father so I hope the process of making these videos can help you like the Hammers Chat videos have helped me
Recently diagnosed ASD (autism) here. Wasn’t a massive surprise but at 51 years old it kind of explains the last 40 years 🤪💪🏼⚒️
Depression doesn't give a rat's ass about your circumstances. It does what it wants when it wants. But it can be quieted a bit, and I reckon doing what you're doing might be one of the ways that helps. There are a lot of your channel members that understand. Thank you for putting yourself out there Chris, and thank you for starting this channel. Strength to strength through picking each other up.
I'm only a tad younger than yourself Gonz and used to suffer with depression, mainly into my 30s. Had I a gun I'd be long gone, but I eventually learned that I had more control over my thoughts and that I was only hurting myself. External crap happens which can be depressing but you're allowed to be gentle with yourself. There's no honour in worrying yourself to an early grave. All the best mate.
Each day as it comes mate. I look forward to more Gonzo insights 😁
So proud of you Gonzo. I have difficulties every day and you always help to lighten my mood and make life better and that’s the same for everyone here. I don’t think you know how much you’re loved and appreciated and admired.
I rarely comment on YouTube videos, but as someone who struggles with anxiety and depression, I really appreciated this video, Gonzo. I’ve been following your channels for many years, and you’re a remarkable bloke with a great sense of humour. Your videos, along with Geo’s, have often made my days feel a lot lighter and have kept me company through both the good and the bad times. I’m sure many others feel the same way. Looking forward to seeing more content like this. ⚒️
Don't wish anxiety and depression on my worse enemy...been suffering and dealing with it for over 20 years....I used to think it was all bullshit until it happens to yourself...well done gonzo for talking to about it..I salute 🫡
Wow Gonzo mate, truly, truly inspiring. So, so proud of you for talking about this mate, takes a big person to talk about it. As you know mate, I’m being assessed for autism and have been for a while and I feel like I do have a lot of the traits so this channel is going to help not only me but it’s going to help millions and millions of people mate. Such a brilliant, inspiring video mate. Well done mate, I’m so so proud of you. I appreciate you a lot mate, genuinely do. Keep up the good work mate. Lots of love mate ❤⚒️
Gonzo, I've watched your plumbing videos over the years, subscribed to Hammers Chat early on and now subscribed to this channel. You have a natural gift of how to talk to and with people, with a charisma that is infectious. I know my words don't help but I hope this channel helps you and everyone.
Takes a big person to post like this, so thanks for your courage 👍
Well done gonzo 💪. A very heartfelt video and thank you for sharing 🙏🏻
