The point was to make it more difficult. Obviously said German would eventually figure out where he was. But this way he couldn’t immediately orient himself. Also it was really more for a potential invasion force.

it wasnt just train stations, it was every single sign on british infrastructure, roads, rail, signs for towns, so if you were travelling to somewhere unfamiliar, good luck
