Why are you quoting Anthropic about Anthropic. None of those studies are real.

One important question about the tech companies that support foundational LLMs: When will they take on the full legal and medical liabilility for the output of their models? Answer: they will never do that. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER! The downside risk is just way too high! So, regarding your observation about radioligists, last year I heard about LLM models offering a cheap double-check when two human radioligists determine that there is no risk -- I heard about a UK NHS program that does precisely that. I see having LLMs being a human assistant or useful double-check, but the tech companies will never willingly take on liability for their products not meeting their crazy over-hyped claims.

(Let's be honest) a lot of people have been historically attracted to software engineering jobs to secure a good paycheck with little manual labor. Being honest, that's one of my motiviations too. However, I've been attracted to the technology world because there is something gratifying about working through challenges and problems and then the thing finally works. There is a 5 minute pause of enjoyment before working on the next problem, but there is something inherently rewarding about it. Computer programming is about typing instructions for a computer to execute, but the thing I really like about it is that it is a discipline that requires clear thinking and mental clarity. A person can type a word-salad paragraph, but that does not work in the software world. If the code fails, it fails hard. AI tools are a big disruption, but at the end of the day, it is about understanding the problem, business context and helping to build a solution. That won't go away anytime soon.

I work in tech consulting for a major, well-known consulting firm and am not worrying about AI taking my job. Why? Because 90-95% of the challenges aren't directly technology related. It's human engagement: Finding what the requirements are, where the data can be found, what processes need to be implemented (which are not necessarially what the client says they need). I do use AI tools for lots of tedious grunt work, but for any work that involves judgement, alignment with multiple people and constantly shifting priorities, I don't see AI tools changing things in a fundamental way.

You are subscribed. From my perspective with Ai this might happen Ai won't replace humans but maybe it will replace the tools. E.g if you are using PowerPoint to make a presentation you will make this with Ai. PowerPoint in this case is replaced but the human not, still giving order to machine what to do.

AI is definitely stealing my job. I am a data analyst and my company asked me to train AI so that it can take over at some point. I think everyone working in data or coding will be fucked sooner or later, just a matter of time. Learning the trades is also not an option since all unemployed white collar jobs will try that too

This is one of the most balanced and realistic discussions about AI and jobs I’ve seen recently. A lot of reports, predictions, and headlines around AI completely contradict each other, which shows how uncertain and fast-changing this space really is. The most valuable takeaway here is probably adaptability, learning fundamentals, and staying flexible instead of panicking over every AI prediction online. Personally, AI4Laymans and Rohvoo helped me understand AI, workflows, and practical learning in a much more beginner-friendly and less overwhelming way.
