If I find a loose cable during an EICR I'm fixing it, to do otherwise would be dangerous. And always agree with the client first that simple things can be fixed, hopefully eliminating the need for a return visit. Do NAPIT actually live in the real world.
NAPIT talking nonsense just like the NICEIC. If I see a loose connection or cracked or broken accessory I’m fixing it there and then. Even if I have to do free of charge.
How on earth are folk supposed to get 58 certs a day done if they've got to be filled in correctly😂
EICR and Part P are a joke and should be scrapped. I had one done a few weeks ago by a company never used before and the guy didnt even unplug a single thing, if he did it was one or two appliances at most. Almost all the sockets and switches are smart ones and have USB etc, no way he could have done it legit. Also certified a new garage consumer unit and he didnt even ask for the key to unlock the garage to go inside. Insurance companies demand this crap but they are not worth the paper they are on. Heck you can even get remote virtual checks, like how the heck can someone so a safety check over WhatsApp video?
The regulations should be a ring binder and each update has new pages and instructions to remove redundant pages. Much cheaper
Screw napit so disconnected from reality if I find a broken socket or loose earth on a eicr I'm fixing it on the spot.
Looks like the lack of type b rcbo's will force mixing of brands or junking a perfectly good board
Amazed to see the IET are still doing nothing to standardise circuit protective devices so we have to landfill endless consumer units to just find the right devices. Serious waste of time and equipment and just promoting more henley bloc chaos. Can someone wake them up.
I saw an EICR that didn’t spot the cracking insulation on the immersion heater or the under sized shower cable. When the same electrician came back to fit a new Consumer unit the mixed up the neutrals which caused tripping especially where they had both RCBOs and RCD for the split board for the economy 7 storage heaters. Unfortunately this was before my relation bought the place so there was nothing they could do. There needs to be something where these types of cowboys get reported and their works audited so they either improve or are removed from the industry. If DIYers are a risk these cowboys are a bigger risk.
Can see why no one wants to do the job anymore. Majority of trades will pay same rates or often more too
Who's even listening to a word "NAPIT" say anymore? They and the rest of these money grabbing self-appointed "bodies" are destroying the electrical industry.
As a landlord who commissions EICRs this has told me that I should avoid NAPIT electricians as they won't do the safe and sensible thing of fixing minor issues as they identify them.
The amount of poorly filled in EICRs I come across is concerning. Over use of LIM, no agreement with the client on LIMs, no CPP, in correct earthing arrangements recorded, no recording of actual supply voltage, etc, etc.
Why did you say must …when it says shall…and it still says shall in the new book
So what about plug in solar do they require type B
I have a question regarding RCBO’s.Two years ago I had our Fuse Board replaced with an up to date consumer unit with RCBO’s. The upgrade was triggered by the need for an EV charger. I am now considering Solar. Given the announcement in this broadcast it seems that I will be having to use a type B RCBO for the solar. My new consumer (BG) unit has spare ways already loaded with unused RCBO’s. 1: If BG doesn’t sell type B RCBO’s then the whole unit may be scrap? 2: If the conditions that prevent a type A RCBO from tripping within the required parameters then with solar installed and one type B is used then will the DC that it is designed to cope with still flood and blind all the other type A RCBO’s in the system? Thanks for your broadcasts.
The thumbnail for this channel gets more daily mail style clickbait alarmist every week. It makes you want to go back to gas or candle lighting.

As always enjoying your show here in the United States 🇺🇸 we do not anything like your show here.
Glad your finally using clips of solar panel installers properly harnessed and clipped on working at height, about time.
