You've reached the end
Surprised it doesn’t have a notch to switch modes, like 8bitdo controllers
And here I thought the steam button on the controller would just open up the steam app.
“Without steam, it cannot act like a controller” man, its almost like it’s a steam controller.
My controller is too open sourced. Also my steak is too juicy and my lobster too buttery.
It’s like people forgot that this is not the first steam controller and the old one did all of these things already
It also means the controller can wake the computer up, by sending a keystroke as though you'd hit a key on a USB keyboard.
That last part about the on screen keyboard not working without steam feels like something they could easily patch in with a firmware update and a valid and fixable criticism
Okay but why cant it be both
This feature means this is the first controller that works on your motherboards BIOs
“Docked computer”
The technical side behind the is also a major reason it doesn't use X input. combining all the inputs need an custom interperator to make it work.
The built-in Steam Deck controller also functions like a mouse & keyboard when you're in desktop mode without Steam open. The products Valve puts out are all made with purpose in mind.
Mind you, you can just open steam with any home button equivalent on your controller if it's open
While I use steam a lot, I don't want a controller that's software locked
As somebody who doesn't use steam but loves valve hardware, I eagerly await someone to come along and fix this.
Xinput has needed an update for a long time, the qwerty layout for keyboards has 24 function keys plus 3 modifiers making it a total of 72 functions that can be assigned to additional keys and with the way controllers seem to be going those extra buttons being individually assignable would be a massive improvement to xinput as well as including things like native gyro (right now gyro mocks stick movement in xinput) and native haptics, maybe even native adaptive triggers if they can get PlayStation to play nice with them or at the very least find a way around it like flydigi did
I'll just wait until the whole steam machine to come out at this point.
it should have a xinput mode by pressing a button combo at least
So THATS why it’s $100
I don't use controller often but I ordered mine since I think it'd make a great multimedia controller since I use my PC to watch shows and movies.
