Under 100 miles left on the tank and I’m searching for a gas station. I’ve had my gas light turn on only once and I’ll never do that again. 😂

As a white guy former mechanic, you're way less likely to have a fuel pump go bad if it's never less than half full

Baking soda in the refrigerator takes the odors away

I lived around poor white which is a whole different way- poor white puts gas in once the car is driving on fumes and usually it's only enough for one or two gallons

I'm Hispanic and we totally had baking soda in the fridge and freezer. Still do it today

Never drop below quarter tank. There is a good reason for that though. The fuel pump in the gas tank is cooled by the gas. If you run low all the time, it will kill the pump faster.

As a hwite, I can confirm I grew up with baking soda in the freezer and I absolutely don't remember the reason for it.

The crazy thing is, filling it up before it hits empty is actually so much better for your fuel pump. Leaving it to pump fuel while totally empty strains the pump.

I fill my car up anytime it gets to a quarter tank. I’ve never seen a gas light on unless I’m parked in my steep ass driveway

The baking soda goes in the fridge. It's to absorb odors; there are no odors in the freezer.
