You lift the car off its wheels whatever height you need to to unbolt the battery and connectors from the car, and get your lift under it. Then you disconnect and you lower the battery away from the car. Dropping one of those battery cases like that can damage them, and start a fire.

No one would do that. They are dismantling the car. They don't have a lift to do it properly.

Something I kept trying to bring up at meeting on EV safety at GM was they should use two different colored wires, one to identify the Positive polarity and a different one for the Negative. GM used ORANGE for both. To get their attention l kept saying sooner or later someone is going to try to "Jump Start" a dead battery and they could help avoid a catastrophy by having different colors. Management tried to tell me no one will do that. But I grew up in Pontiac, Michigan and there are a lot of low income people living 15 to 20 in a house and they will eventually try. I said it at every meeting we had trying to get them to think about it. After about 10 times they just looked at me funny. But now l see one Orange wire has Black rings all along it. 400 Volts DC will make you hang on if you get connected to it, until you catch fire and burn up. Management gave us Yellow Rubber Gloves to fit inside Larger Leather gloves to protect us from the DC Voltage hazard and placed wood 2X4's around to use to knock someone off the connection so we didn't risk electrocuting ourselves trying to help. It was a crazy time to work at GM. (it was right around the bankruptcy)

For those who think this is rather rough, take a look at how salvage yards remove engines.
