In a rapidly growing capital city facing housing shortages, traffic congestion, unemployment, and rising land demand, dedicating thousands of acres of prime urban land to a wildlife park no longer makes strategic economic sense. Nairobi has evolved far beyond the conditions under which Nairobi National Park was established in 1946. Kenya already possesses world-renowned wildlife destinations such as Maasai Mara and Amboseli that can sustainably support conservation and tourism without limiting the expansion potential of the nation’s capital. The land occupied by the park could instead support modern infrastructure, affordable housing, industrial growth, technology hubs, public transport systems, and green urban development that directly improve the lives of millions of Kenyans. While conservation remains important, preserving a large national park inside one of Africa’s fastest-growing cities may represent an outdated planning model that prioritizes symbolism over long-term economic efficiency and urban sustainability.

There must be immediately walling in kitengela and rongai side to connect nairobi national park and amboseli. Let the city extend to other areas but preserve the park forever. This must be entrenched in constitution and hv a clause to interfere with the park, 90% of all Kenyans must vote in a referendum to accept it. All the parks must be owned by Kenyans and not regions or tribes.

Thanks for raising interest and awareness, as suggested in your witty comments only a demented person can think of destroying this for affordable housing with less than 10% occupancy or foreign-owned skyscrapers.
