I had the same problem with the rear seat on my 159 SW. The facelift back seat mounting points are slightly different to the initial model. You need to swap the brackets where the two pieces lock (the facelift are warped, the initial model are not) and you need to swap the bracket between the two halves (one is angled). That's the easy part. Then lastly the mounting points on the wheel arches should be cut out and welded back an inch or so higher. Either that or buying a rear seat from a facelift car... Or keeping the black piece.... These are your options really :)

I've just been in hospital for a knee replacement, meanwhile husband went and watched TDC without me! His recommendation was for me to watch this episode soon as I could. Watching Will struggle, Edwin in his happy place cleaning, and Ben's perfect editing is totally great content for recovery. Had a right ol' chuckle. Only thing is, Edwin made me a bit jealous cleaning those leather seats as just want to be out doing the same to ones in our E36. Man does our car need some leather treatment and a swizzle brush thing (sorry, strong pain meds - cant remember words!) 🙄😵‍💫🥴

Alfas are such beautiful cars, my dad has had atleast 4 and my Grandad has a gorgeous red GTA 156 and it’s spotless, I had a 159 Sportwagon TI JTDM and it’s the best car I have ever drove and I still miss it to this day if I had the money to have kept it I would have

TDC is quickly becoming one of my favourite car channels. Good lads, modest budgets, bit of graft. It’s a good recipe.

Great choice and Will’s battle of the rear bench is already a classic. Also good to see Edwin Kleaninberg in his happy place again. 👍🏻

I'm pausing the video at 3:46 so I don't yet know what he's gone for, but I've had my 535d F11 for 4 years now and it is hands-down the best car I have owned. I don't do mega miles in it since I took a job 99.9% working from home shortly after I got it 🤦‍♂, but it still puts a smile on my face when I do get to take it out on a long run

Amazing find; it's just ridiculous for what money these go in the UK. I've owned the 2.0 liter diesel 159 in exactly the same Lusso spec for 5 years in Croatia. Bought it as a car to learn mechanics and wrenching, and it didn't disappoint, lol. Imported it from Italy, drove back to Croatia with no issues, and then in the next 5 years replaced pretty much everything that could go wrong on this car except rust - they don't rush much in warmer climates. Folding seats were an extra option, so some don't have them - like yours. You need to completely take out the rear interior, and move seat holders/clips/brackets from the folding seats over to the non-folding ones. There are noticeable differences in the brackets and how the folding/non-folding seats fit. While you're at it - a few advice. Change the handbrake cable if it's even a little bit dodgy. In order to change it you need to take out almost THE ENTIRE INTERIOR (front and back seats, hand-rest, mid-central console, f'ing floor carpet), so save yourself some time on that if you're disassembling the seats anyway. The rubber front bushings on these go really bad, really quickly; if there's any play just polybush the front because these cars keep eating the upper and lower arm rubber bushings. Stock factory alignment has them at -2 camber which will be great for fun handling, but will eat the inner part of the tires. Lowering them on basic Eibach Pro-kit springs transforms the driving dynamics and the look of the car; and it's still a supple ride due to soft springs. The F40 is a great transmission; but the clutch/DMF tend to go bad even on stock power, and it's a pain of a job with the whole front-subframe and front suspension needing to come down. With a remap the F40 can easily take over 500nm of torque (and a basic stage 1 will get you close to that in the 2.0L). Biggest hidden tip - many engine parts are interchangeable with the Vauxhall/Open Insignia 2.0L single-turbo version 2008-2012; because everything except the bottom part of the engine was GM-Fiat building an engine together. Parts are sometimes much cheaper for GM. The 2.0L in particular (unlike the 1.9/2.4JTDM) leaks oil and coolant from all sorts of funny spots - look out for oil leaks from the oil filler; the vacuum pump and coolant leaks from the plastic EGR radiator housing. The various random messages on the screen (Vehicle protection system, VDC, ASR) will almost always be due to issues with the battery or battery terminals.

Finally a YouTuber with taste. Had my 159 for 20 years. Still love it. And if anyone says ' oh Alfa - unreliable ' then you are just buying into a story that is no longer true.
