Donβt underestimate the power of the starter motor, strong enough the break the crank bolt loose! π©

You've reached the end
What do you mean by β is the engine that strongβ? The engine can move 3 tons vehicles
Fuel Relay Don't forget to remove that first
That's the starter engine. No the internal combustion one. That's 12 v battery doing the heavy lifting.
Read on how to remove the crank bolt from a 6.6l Duramax. Book states use 3/4β breaker bar and socket, put it up against the frame and bump the starter
Yes it works. Now careful you don't launch the ratchet to the moon and/or tighten the pulley and break the crank bolt because it's reverse threaded
"How did you lose your arm?"
That's right Junior. That's how we used to do it back in the day. We never had the money for the expense tools. You work with what you got and your brain was the most valuable tool on hand.
Who ever thought of doing this first have balls of steel.
Normal cars has the thread oposite to rotation of the engine, so can stay there.
Did this on stuck crank pulley bolt on a 92 Honda accord. It broke the bolt head off. Thankfully it loosened the bolt enough to get it with an easy out

Thatβs the old mechanic trick Iβve been using for years for those nasty rusted bolts that just wonβt come off even with the high torque half inch impact works like a charm every time

Wedge the other end on the ground or frame rail instead of lashing it

Ever heard of a friction timing gear
All you need is a heavy dense impact socket, the super thick ones, and it will come off in 20 seconds. The problem is not the torque, the issue is the density of weight at the bolt that keeps impact-guns from doing the job thinking you need to do all these hacks. Thatβs if your engine is tilted to the side in a position that you can get to the bolt by simply removing the wheelβ¦. At least thatβs how it is with mines
I do that for more than 20 years now. Works every time!
Technically itβs the starter and battery doing the work here
