It just goes to show they are still out there when you think back they was everywhere. Good luck with taking it on.
Aw man! - My first car was a W reg, 1.3GL Escort in Metallic Aztec Bronze. Seeing that engine bay brought back memories of replacing the hydraulic tappets and trying (and failing!) to reseal the Variable Venturi Carb xD
I had a 1983 1.6 ghia beautiful little car. So lovely to save another ❤
Amazing find

I bought a 1.3L estate and it was a great car. I moved house with it and I was amazed how much stuff I got in the back. It was a joy to drive too. Fond memories when Ford made great cars.
Had a mk 3 XR3 and then a RS1600i in the late 80s both were great.
My first car was a X reg MK3 Escort Est loved it to bit's
Looking lovely- you do make some interesting finds
Congrats🎉 I had a similar Escort. It was also red just like yours. My Escort had a sunroof with two functions. If you turned the handle to the right the roof opened. And if you turned the handle to the left the sunroof just tilted a few centimeters so you could let fresh air in. Beautiful car. Drove to work every day and drove on vacations to France, Germany and Italy. Never had any issues with it. After a few years met a women who wanted to ride in a premium car. So I traded in my Escort for an Audi A3 from 1999. I really miss the good old days when everybody could afford buying a brand new car.
Brilliant
My first car. Manual choke and the engine used to cut out in the rain 😅 I loved it though.
