You explaining how complex our bodies are in response to food is so helpful. It makes sense that eating is influenced by the other parts of your health. When I wonder why I’m all of a sudden craving not super nutritious food, I can look at the list of factors, rather than berating myself for being “weak.” I can jump straight to finding solutions instead of feeling defeated. Thank you for sharing and explaining these things.

Ah, how I wish your videos were around 40 years ago. At the same time, Oh how grateful I am that you are around and making these videos now! Thank you.

I love your science videos! Thanks so much for all the work you put into them! I love two things you said: - you referenced ultra-processed food by saying “food that doesn’t look like anything we see in nature” and I like thinking of that distinction - the acknowledgement that these food companies are actively trying to get us to eat their foods

It's amazing how much you study and collect info for 1 video and backup every sentence with reason and evidence👏 GREAT WORK! This was such a helpful video 🤍

Sadly "eating junk food in moderation" never worked for me. I tried to eat "intuitively" and just ate whatever I felt like without weighing myself or counting calories. I gained about 60 lbs during 4 years of doing that. At a certain point I started to loathe chocolate and the whole taste of it and I STILL COULD NOT stop eating it until it made me literally sick. The only thing that ever worked for me was cutting out junk food or processed food completely. At first it was pretty terrifying and my craving was so bad that I spend the first two weeks just crying and shaking. But now after three years I feel very relaxed around food because junk food is just not an option anymore. I don't buy it, I don't eat it, I don't think about it, I don't need it. With non processed food I have a very easy time to eat intuitively and just eat whenever I feel like it. I don't count calories but since I mantain a steady weight in the normal BMI range I assume I eat exactly how much I need. I could never eat just one piece of chocolate or one cookie. Some people can. I can't. Everybody's different and everybody needs to find out what works best for them.

I struggle with falling asleep a lot because of my anxiety. It would be interesting to see a video about sleep and it’s relation to how our bodies processes/digest food and how it affects recovery from training.

For some reason, these kinds of videos actually make it easier to eat healthier because it makes me more aware of what the triggers are. So if it’s finals week, try to have less processed foods around and have more low calorie dense foods at hands reach. It’s really cool and smart.

So glad to have you back, Natacha <3 Watching this, I started to feel really grateful as I realized something: I was having ice cream, and felt completely relaxed and neutral around it. That's something that cannot be said about me a few years ago when I started watching your videos and had an awful relationship with food... You've inspired me so much with your balanced approach!!

I live with a dietician and honestly I think it’s been the best for my relationship with food. Not because she judges what I eat or even comments on it but because I get to see a good example of what we should be doing along with asking her questions when I need to! It’s so valuable to be educated

So agree on diet effecting anxiety. I have been battling anxiety and depression for years and when I started eating healthier (still had cheat meals randomly), I realized it was day and night!
