So many people are surprised when I say I'm a food scientist, but the funny thing is, food science is around us each and every day. Food science is the application of chemistry, physics, and microbiology to the food supply. This means food scientists help ensure the safety and quality of food as well as innovate and create new products. A degree in food science can open up so many possibilities! You can become a product developer or researcher. You can work in food quality, manufacturing, or safety. Maybe you want to solve problems involving sustainability and food waste?! These are all options. My food science degrees are both from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and I cannot even count how many doors these degrees have opened for me! Not to mention, the amazing people I have met along the way. Nice job! I tell my food science students: if people say that what you are studying is not complicated or important, ask them if a nuclear submarine is complicated or important. When they say yes, ask them how long a sub can stay underwater. The correct answer is "as long as it has enough food for the crew".
Abbey - came across your channel through my work at Presage Analytics. Thanks for the content you are making!

Hi, I am currently going to be a junior in high school and I'm looking at Majors for college. Baking is one of my favorite hobbies so I was thinking about things that could be related and I stumbled across your channel. Can you tell me more about the classes that you had to take in college?
I’m not good at math but I’m so passionate about this field.
