I know this isn't that serious but I think the real reason why people watch it is because it acts as an outlet for their anxiety. It's the same as horror movies being an outlet for peoples irrational fears.

Honestly both ends of the spectrum for car crash videos are good entertainment. The insane crashes are obviously crazy to look at, but the near misses and fender bender shit is also entertaining to pick apart
