Shadenfreude and the pratfall effect seem related. Being able to turn petty social mistakes into displays of solidarity helped us evolve as social animals. Of course, the prat fallee has to be willing to be vulnerable.
It's not true that over 99% of people who smoke, even their whole lives, don't suffer from any of the negative health effects ascribed to it? It's not a fact that more non-smokers still get lung cancer or other ailments attributed to smokers? It's not a fact that no one really knows what causes cancer, like breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, colon cancer etc, yet they seemed to think smoking causes cancer? It seems to me that those who ignore these truths are the ones in denial.
Lucifer Effect: anyone else immediately think of ICE agents?
The by stander effect is real and sad. That's why a first responder will point at someone and tell them to call 911 and not just yell it at a crowd because everyone will think that someone else will do it, and no one does.
Open placebos cannot work. They only work if the subjects mind believes they are real. Hence the term "placebo effect". The mind and body both need to believe that the "pill" contains something. Take that away and the "placebo effect" is gone.
Could the third man be God?
So my conscious attention is like a post hoc Kramer?
Thank you for being a real human sharing this list! The title sounded interesting, but I almost didn’t click because it also sounded like it would just be another AI video.
Scopolamine is the scariest one on this list. I can only imagine those who use it for terrible terrible things.
Cognitive dissonance can turn very dark very fast "You think you are right so that makes you dangerous"/"The ends justify the means" Tell people "our religion/philosophy/race/political group is right/good and the other side is evil" and they will do some of the worst human rights violations you have ever seen. Because, "we are fighting against evil" so we can do whatever we need to do to harm the evil ones
That was so interesting! Makes me wonder what my brain is doing without me knowing at any given time, fascinating 🤔 🤯
The first one explains liberalism and religion perfectly.
Cute aggression - we have a word there in Tagalog: GIGIL!!! But, it can also be used in a negative way... Like you're so pissed off with someone you feel like a fang is growing and you want to bite!😅😅😅
How does the Trump cult fit in all of this?
I’ve watched some other videos from this you and your team about psychology. Thank you for enlightening our minds while being entertaining.
Shadow work... Hell yeah 👹🏴
1 death is a tragedy a million is a statistic.
#25 is perhaps why Hollywood celebrities are so eager to jump up on their soapbox and preach at us about their special causes and political views. They're trying to compensate for being such a hypocrite in their private lives. The five-minute rant about the environment at the Golden Globes makes them feel better about those thirty-five private jet trips last year.
This was sooo insightful. Thanks man, i learnt so much. Dropping you a follow.
Cognitive Dissonance, explains Nazi Germany. Thank you, I finally understand how it happened.
