psychology of Psychosis : Explained #psychologyfacts #oyeujjwalsingh #psychosis #samayraina

Education

What happens when your own mind becomes the enemy? 🧠🌫️ Pop culture has completely ruined the definition of Psychosis. It is not a horror movie trope, and it is not a "crazy" personality. In psychology, Psychosis is a severe condition where the brain's "Reality-Testing" mechanism completely breaks down. Here is what it actually feels like from the inside: 🗣️ 1. Hallucinations (False Senses): Your brain processes sensory information that does not exist. You might hear voices talking to you, see shadows, or even feel things touching your skin. To the person experiencing it, these sensations are 100% physically real. 👁️ 2. Delusions (False Beliefs): This is an unbreakable paranoia. The brain creates a false narrative—like believing that people are conspiring against you, or that you are being constantly watched. Even if you are presented with absolute logical proof that you are safe, your brain refuses to believe it. 🌌 3. Derealization & Depersonalization: This is often the most terrifying phase. You look around, and the world feels flat, fake, or like a simulation. You look at your own hands or look into a mirror, and you feel completely disconnected from your own body, like you are playing a video game in first-person mode. 🧬 Why does it happen? Psychosis is a chemical short-circuit (usually involving dopamine). It is often triggered by extreme trauma, prolonged severe stress, severe lack of sleep, or genetics. The brain becomes so overwhelmed with emotional or physical exhaustion that it creates a distorted reality just to cope. The scariest thing in the world isn't a monster under your bed. It is realizing that the only tool you have to perceive reality—your own brain—is actively lying to you. 🛑 👇 Mental health is fragile. Have you ever experienced a mild form of "derealization" where things felt fake? Drop a '🌫️' in the comments. #Psychosis #MentalHealthAwareness #Derealization #Depersonalization #psychologyfacts
