A video essay (with spoilers) about the dark deeper meaning of 'Weapons' (2025), written and directed by Zach Cregger and starring Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong and Amy Madigan. In this video I get into its deeper themes and symbolism. I consider the bell, the tree and deliverance. one thing ive thought about the entire from seeing the movie in theaters to seeing this video 8 months later, is that the bully never recovered. it just shows him being carried off with his father. maybe the kid's heart was full of darkness, being he was a bully (not saying bullies in school are evil) but in this case, maybe because of the destruction of the witch, and its evil, that the boy was left broken beyond repair.
I was waiting for someone to do this. 😂😂I went to theaters to watch this and the only scene worth the 16$ for me was the last scene. And the Naruto runs. I’m a fan.
I love how you talked about the end in the movie where the twig gets snapped, and the evil that was once unleashed onto the innocent comes back on itself, just as the nature of evil in and of itself is the epitome of failure bc people who conspire together do all the same things, believing such practices will somehow cover up their crimes and protect them from being exposed.
This didn’t feel like a typical horror movie at all. It’s more of a slow-burning psychological tension piece that just happens to use horror elements. The film never really gives you a clear answer, and I think that’s intentional—it’s less about what happened and more about how people react when something unexplainable happens. The atmosphere and unease stay with you longer than any specific scene. It actually reminded me more of a Stephen King-style story than a conventional horror film.
Wondering why the chief couldn’t solve the crime….after all he is The Wiz….and nobody beats him!!🤣🤣🤣
She became sick and then entered into black magic to save herself...
The most unrealistic thing I found out about this movie is the teacher Justine being able to afford a traditional american house mortage as a single adult on a teacher salary, hahaha
I literally JUST finished wathcing Weapons and am super grateful I found this explanation. Instant sub! This video was super engaging :)
Triangles inside circles are holding points for unruly spirits in western and eastern exorcism/ evokation work. I thought the Naruto run 🏃♀️ was the homage. Magic, even the scarier/ darker parts, can all be used for good if the practitioner is creative enough.
WOW that was an excellent analysis and love the biblical aspect, subscribed! 💪🏻⚔🛡✝️🙏🏻🦁🕊
Triangle in a circle is used in the occult to summon and control / coerce an infernal spirit
Background music to this video is torture
Archer's son's name is Matthew.. and 2:17 Could be a verse like Matthew 2:17 it's a verse about massacre of infants in Bethlehem in attempt to kill Jesus.. idk if that signifies anything but maybe a red hearing of making us think that all this kid were killed. (spoilers not really)
did Alex have magic in his blood- which enabled him to cast the spell?- or was the power contained in the tree/twig which enabled him to break the spell and unleash the kids against the witch?,,,..
The thorns, forks and needles are also representig the way the drug enters the body. especially the scene where they cover up the fork wounds when the authorities and welfare office comes to visit the home was really an analogy to how a drug addict family would cover up the traced to create the illusion of a functioning household. So maybe Aunt Gladys was representing the addicted mother when she was laying sick in bed, telling Alex not to talk to anyone about it and cleaning the house before welcoming the authorities with over-exaggerated friendliness. Did Alex sold drugs to his classmates to finance his expenses at home where he had to care for his addicted parents? Was he the transmitter of addiction so that the children went to his home to get drugs in a figurative sense, like remote-controlled mindless zombies ?
It's so true, she DID sow the seeds for her destruction- cause she showed Alex how to destroy her, ultimately
Surprised you missed the Matthew (Brolin's kids name) 2:17 reference. This is the "slaughter of the innocent" verse from Herod's reign. To me this movie seemed to have a lot of mass violence references, not just the machine gun vision.
Thank you much. Excellent interpretation and use of Biblical Theology. I thought 217 was pointing to Genesis 2:17: "if you eat from the tree, you will surely die."
I kinda felt the story was about narcissists and parasite family members: the aunt is clearly taking control over the family, and you can tell that she cares first about her looks and beauty. This is of course put under a fairytale of witchcraft and mystery
The scene where the kids ripped the witch apart reminds me of the Greek play The Bacchae. Shares a lot of the same themes with it as well
