So this is about worst things that three people did, and the worst thing that one person didn't do?

Locking a special needs kid in an abandoned RV is actually so fkn demented. Worst one by far to me

If you think about it Emma was the only character that actually only inflicted pain on herself with her past mistakes. Charlie supposedly bullied someone into moving (Although he might’ve been lying since he’s kind of a little weasel), Rachel traumatized a special needs child and Mike used his girlfriend as a human meat shield. Emma paid her price with her mistake by making herself deaf with her dad’s rifle and she didn’t deserve to be treated that way by the other characters. EDIT: Wow thanks for all the likes you guys! Another Edit: the main thing Emma did wrong was just not be honest about her past from the start, this all could have been avoided had Charlie already known about it and if it really made him that uncomfortable he could have found someone else to be with

I have a problem with Rachel. What she did to that special needs child is not only abhorrent but cowardly and clearly she learned NOTHING from the experience. I think deep down she’s ashamed and knows how disgusting her behavior was but instead of taking responsibility and accountability she attacks Emma to deflect and distract from her own shameful experience. Her “toast” conveys this fact. I believe the couple stands a chance at real happiness as long as they cut toxic people like Rachel out of their lives.

Think about it - Emma was bullied (which contributed to her thoughts) and she too finds out Charlie bullied someone at that table …

So basically. Bullies vs victem. Bullies who tortured others suddenly throwing a fit because the victem THOUGHT of retaliation.

So they were just getting mad at her because she had intrusive thoughts but didn't actually go through with anything. That is not worse than people actually doing something even if its just bullying other people.

I would applaud Emma for changing. Think about kids who are bullied and maybe think about harming others but end up self deleting? That could have been Emma. She woke up changed and became a better person.

Y'know what? Heck yeah. I'll watch. EDIT: Rachel's an idiot. "I'll have to ask my cousin's permission-" Ah yeah, let's bring your cousin into something that literally doesn't involve her.

If you can’t accept someone’s past then you probably shouldn’t be part of their future. She didn’t even actually do anything so I wouldn’t say that she’s the problem here.

Another aspect of the movie is that Charlie seems to rely more on his friends’ judgement about Emma’s situation and any external judgement than of himself. He wants to accept Emma but struggles to do so since people around him don’t give the same sentiment. He values other people opinions’ over his own, thus biasing his own experience with Emma who has shown kindness (in his first version of the speech he wrote Emma was the kindest person he knew).

So, I was bullied my whole school time from the first day till the last day. One day, after ten years I got an invitation to a reunion and of course I didn't go. But because I never left my hometown I regularly met some of my former classmates. One of them just asked for a coffee and because I am a people pleaser I said yes. We met and had some chit chat about how life is going and bla bla bla. I hadn't much to tell because there wasn't a possibility to recover from that decade long bullying. So I just gave short answers and just enjoyed the idea of the end of this awkward meeting. After a while of silence my former classmate said something very interesting and important: "I thought you will end up as a psycho." I needed just a minute to process what she had just said. I looked at her with a confused face and she added "but actually you are very nice." I asked why she thought that of me and it was going nowhere near the real issue so I took advantage of it: "You saw me getting my will to live sucked out every school day while anticipating the whole shit show and got scared of me if I was going to seek revenge in any kind, am I right? Explain that to me how aren't you are the psycho for making my childhood experience a living hell but I have to be the psycho because of the possibility to end this nightmare by hurting you back. Why aren't you and your friends who treated me like I was worthless and needed devaluation not the one's that needed therapy?" Like in the movie her lame excuse was the same: 'I was a kid and my brain was not working properly...' So I reminded her that I was a kid too, that I was the one being afraid and scared of waking up every day and still have to deal with PTSD while she won't admit that abuse is soul crippling and to me that kind of people are the real psychos. But no one wants to deal with the consequences and changes the victim into a monster.

Emma needed real friends. Obviously her finances friends judged her so hard, they did not care about her.

This movie genuinely was another version of "would you love me if i was a worm".....charlie would infact NOT. And Emma was too forgiving tbh. But it makes sense...she had a tough childhood, she was bullied, Charlie is her first love. Makes sense why she would overcompensate for him

The small detail of that photograph of Emma showing off the ring on the fridge turning into her holding up two fingers in the shape of a gun towards rob is awesome

The point that I realized after watching the film is that people will make a drama out of one horrible thing in others to mask the horrible things in their life. Its been true for many friendships and families. Glad to see the drama dramatized.

Rachel literally locked a special needs man in an abandoned rv closet . A search party literally had to be called . Rachel was literally the worst confession. Poor guy could have never been found ,suffocated,starved. Obviously he couldnt get out if he needed to be found. Rachel could have been a literal murderer as well just like Emma.

THANK YOU!! I was so pissed at Rachel cuz obv Emma grew from it. It’s even stated she became a huge g control advocate. She was 15, emotionally unstable, getting bullied, and felt like an outcast. I’m sure plenty of people who go through that think of some horrific situations but she didn’t go through with it and I think that’s the biggest show of why she should be forgiven/given a second chance now that she’s older

Rachel is one of those "friends" who, from the beginning waits for a chance to attack and drag you. They play nice until they find an opening.

It wasn’t as controversial as I had been led to believe. I just saw it 10 minutes ago. I think the reaction of Charlie and their friend Rachel was over the top and lacked emotional maturity. The background of Emma explained a lot ie bullying and teen isolation. And the admissions of the two friends and Charlie were equally as bad so I think it was deflection.
