The Zach Cregger horror is now out digitally so I thought we’d revisit the movie to discuss everything hidden beneath the surface. Weapons is a movie with a lot going on in it and there’s lots of unanswered questions come the end. …well how…more HOW than why but we’re gonna be going through it all. I dont wanna waste anymore of your time so with that out the way let’s get into the movie. Ok the Zach Creggers weapons script actually kickstarted a bidding war in hollywood. Though New Line secured it in the end, there was a lot of back and forth between different teams. Jordan Peele actually fired his guys because they were unable to lock down the deal.

Weapons honestly has the funniest ending to ANY horror movie. Very satisfying
I like how she says “Fxcking help me' to the cashier.. all he says is get out of my store basically . It’s the realest scene in this movie lol they never go beyond their protection for the store
I feel like deep down, Alex was the most intelligent character in the movie. He clocked "Aunt" Gladys from the get-go. From the minute he heard her, saw her, never trusted her while every other character gives in to her idiosyncrasies and numerous 🚩's. I've seen the movie a couple times now (Also obsessed) and I genuinely think he was trying to "out" her in those scenes. Alex, his parents and those 17 kids were effective hostages but Alex's emotional intelligence was so ridiculously next level. I really interpreted it as him trying to get her out of her power den she established. It's literally how he made the connection to the potted plant. Such a phenomenal movie...

That wig threw me for a loop 😂
The final 10 minutes was almost worth the price of admission. Sort of a Monty Python chase scene that had me laughing the whole time. Great movie.

One thing I noticed hasn’t been mentioned. Regarding the whole “being used as unknowing weapons” When Paul gets stuck with the syringe, he could have got aids. Then has sex with Justine (possibly infecting her with a death virus). He even lies to her saying it was just an accident.
Wig utterly terrifying, but still liking those glasses. Where can I procure those at?
One of the things I liked about the movie is how quick Matthews father realized something is smelling shitty, quickly found out that they were running in one direction AAAAAAND that they had same way of running with open arms, like this wouldve taken any other horror movie character a whole length of the movie
We must as men revisit the “how many fifth graders could you take on” question. Them kids was wrecking shop.
This movie felt like horror edging. Every time it starts to ramp the horror up it then immediately switches to a different persons perspective restarting the whole cycle
That Wendys parody shirt is amazing
its just a theory of mine but I don't think Gladys is actually related to Alex and is a paranormal parasite that inserted themselves into the families lives given the parents hazy memories of Aunt Gladys as well as the documentary on Cordyceps being shown on TV as being a bit hint to Gladys's otherworldly nature.
I assumed "never came back" from the narration is both purposely vague to make us think the kids disappeared forever, but also the double meaning is that all the victims are now basically vegetables and can't speak or feed themselves. Also I assumed Gladys used magic to become a human brood parasite, like a cuckoo chick that convinces the mother bird that it's its chick so it'll feed and take care of it.
The triangle in the circle is also an Alcoholics Anonymous Symbol!
Justine not noticing the names off of the kids' bins when confronts Alex immediately after he pulls them off is a majorly weird moment.
Gladys follow vampire rules. She mentions consumption which was the cause of the vampire myth. She also never enters a home without getting permission first. And she drains the life force out of people to stay alive. The people she posses follow Zombie rules. They are mindless drones who can only die with a headshot. Look back, every possessed person only dies when they’re shot in the head or decapitated. Just a detail I haven’t seen anyone mention yet. This isn’t just a witchcraft movie, it’s also a vampire movie and a zombie movie.

I noticed that the chapters start in the middle and gradually swing further backward and forward in time. Not sure if it was intentional, but it contributed to the mounting manic feeling
