The ending...He wasn't just teaching 'all the rockies'...He was teaching the 'children' of the planet. That means he has come full circle. He loved teaching when he was on Earth. He's found a new home, a best friend (Rocky), he's part of a family unit (Rocky's wife, Adrian, is looking after Grace and making sure water temp and other things are comfortable for him) and he gets to teach 'children' once more. Grace says he will think about it but Grace knows there is no going back. This foreign planet and its inhabitants have given him more than Earth ever did.

In the book on Erid he runs out of food and has to start eating his clones. He calls them me burgers.
Okay, I need to be honest this recap hit me right in the feelings. Project Hail Mary is one of those rare stories that balances hard science with genuine heart, and seeing it all laid out here reminded me why I loved the book so much.

Thanks for the recap. I'm assuming there's an action figure of Rocky for purchase at my local Walmart? I liked that "ET phone home" moment, and he's not even an extraterrestrial. Or is he? How does that work when you're from outer space and you're still in outer space but you're interacting with a person who's also in outer space and no longer on earth?

Awesome recap, though Grace does work out the contraption thrown by Rocky is a map of Rocky’s home planet relative to their location. Than Grace adds earth to the map, so Rocky can see where earth is !!! 😉
