This feels like a half-remembered dream from your childhood that never really leaves you.
People keep thinking that this represents letting go of childhood. But, I don't know... that tombstone was there from the beginning, and she heard laughter every time she looked at it. The way she plays with the unicorn statue at the beginning seems so melancholic too, as if she's trying to stay joyful, but something is keeping her from truly enjoying it, like, maybe... a recent loss. I think this message is a bit more literal. I think she and the grave digger (who might be his father or grandfather) recently lost a family member. And judging by the childish laughter when looking at the tombstone, maybe it was the girl's sibling. That dollhouse might've belonged to that sibling, and so by burying it, they're accepting their family member's death, while ALSO mourning childhood, because what else will inevitably force you to accept adulthood but the acceptance of death?
I love the symbolism of burying the dollhouse, as if she is saying goodbye to her childhood and beginning to become a woman. And the final hugs of the unicorn statue, as if she were saying farewell to her childhood fancies. This is excellent, great work!
Perhaps the old man is Time, come to show her she cannot remain a child forever. Some part of us does, though. Treasure it and keep it alive inside you.
dark crystal vibes i love this
the jumpscare the man gave me is unreal
I adore the character designs, the whole thing feels incredibly nostalgic.
Noooo, don't cry little stop motion doll girl, your unicorn friend really loved their tea I promise :(
crafting all these objects must have taken ages! very well done, love the atmosphere and the teacup and unicorn and everything really, it inspires me 🙀
I really think burying the doll house symbolized growing up and “burying” your childhood. The video has a vague meaning and that’s what I love about it; you can interpret it however it resonates with you
THIS IS SOO GOOD!! LOVE the mixed media set design and characthers, especially the glitter on the princess's cheeks that looks like tears is so genius. but pls now make a wholesome version where the princess is just living her best life with her unicorn and friends and the grandpa also has many friends and a garden to balance the trauma this piece has created 😭
i dont wanna say goodbey to my childhood
this is such an interesting piece! i like that owl symbolizes wisdom in many cultures and it turns out that graveyard man is the owner of the owl.
Wait why did this make me cry. I remember having this unicorn beanie baby and I loved it so much, but over time it got old and deteriorated so my mom told me I had to throw it away. I didn’t want to so I cut out the stuffing from one of my newer stuff animals and put it in there. But as more time went on and it got more and more worn all the happiness I had with it began to fade, so I eventually threw it away. But I’ll never forget all the wonderful memories I have of it we spent together. This was such a lovely film, please keep up the great work 🦄💖
Woahh algorithm did its thing today
I think the old man represents Father Time, trying to remind the young girl that she has outgrown the shell of her childhood. Burying the dollhouse is her acceptance of growing up.
Where is the rest of the crowd?? Every detail of this underrated animation is so beautiful and carefully made
thanks yt for recommending this to me.. this is so cool and whimsical 💞
from the first second i couldn't stop watching, captivated by the modeling work and music, and the story it told. actually made me tear up when it seems like the girl is reluctantly accepting the inevitability of death
Aww I love it! It reminds me of the dark crystal
