Welcome Tim, you said yourself you need to get down to Connacht sometime, and you should. Great things are happening out west in the City of the Tribes. Irish rugby can be very tribal at times, and I do think some of the outside perception of Connacht still comes from old narratives that don’t really match what’s happening on the pitch now. That’s why I usually enjoy your content, it tends to be more fair and nuanced than traditional coverage. From a Connacht fan’s perspective, when it’s clicked over the last couple of seasons, we’ve played brilliant rugby. It’s hard to argue we’re not one of the form teams in the league at the minute, 8 wins from the last 10 I think? And that form isn’t a fluke; we don’t have the budget for flukes. At the start of the season we backed the younger lads heavily and now it’s starting to show. As said after Connacht v Munster: “Nobody wants to draw Connacht” in the URC run-in. Still work to do, and results still need to go our way, but I think that’s a fair statement. Chéad míle fáilte. (one hundred thousand welcomes)

I have found it amusing when the media talk about Munster/Ulster injury issues. With one of the smaller playing squads Connacht had 12 players unavailable for the Munster match, and during the season it's rarely been in single figures. At ne point the count was 18. So at a point when Connacht was really struggling, they had to dig deep into the academy to field a team, and it's paid off. More interesting is that a lot of supporters saw this as a transition year- so they have well and truly exceeded expectations whether they get through to the last 8 or not!

Good call out on SP. Not sure which was more embarrassing: the fake injury or the fake tackle (for the disallowed try). Agree that Hollie is a very good ref. 1 of my favourite in world rugby.

I would be ashamed of Prendergast if I was a Leinster supporter. That was a worse dive than the famous Nic White dive.

As a Glasgow fan, I don't know if you'll be aware of this but even if we finished top it's not a guarantee that we will have a "home" final as: - I dont think Scotstoun is available from semi to final itself due to Commonwealth Games - no stadium in the whole of Scotland seems to be free for the final *if* we get to that point as Murrayfield is hosting a concert that weekend, all the football stadiums seem to be either doing maintenance or have something on then as well - this means that *if* we get a *home* final, it may not be played in Scotland which is ridiculous

The red card in the Munster game needs mentioning to give context to the score line in the first half. I don’t think it changed the outcome, but it made the game less close than it otherwise would have been, as we saw when Munster were back to 15 in the second half. As you say, though, they’re just not the same team with Beirne and Crowley.

Stewart Lancaster and Richie Murphy have been absolutely fantastic for Connacht and Ulster. We no longer have to rely on leinster for 80% of the Irish team. Also, how good have Ben and Jack Murphy been at 9 and 10 for Connacht and Ulster this year. Two years ago they were both in the leinster setup but some genius there decided they were surplus to requirements and the future was Sam Prendergast and Fintan Gunne.

Jurenzo Julius hat trick was spectacular and Andre Esterhuizen was massive! Never seen anything like Julius’’ first try - “running backwards” for a metre or two….👏

If Glasgow finish top, and reach the final, surely Scotstoun wouldn't be the venue for the URC final? I mean it holds less than 8,000 fans. That would be an utter embarrassment for the league's showpiece event.

Holly Davidson as usual was horriffic. Tim saying shes a relaly good ref makes me actually feel unwell because literally nobody i know thinks shes good its only youtubers for whatever reason who keep praising her even though shes shit. Shouldent be allowed within 100m of a professional match. Lions couldent get a single decision their way all game and so just gave up in the last 10 min. Should have been 14-7 up against leinster at half time but CSI TMO came in and intentionally looked for any error they made before conveniently going on a bathroom break when leinster scored a try theyre own player dident know he scored.
