Listed with vague "engine problems," most buyers stayed far away from this R56 Turbo. But after spotting a few high-end performance parts in the auction photos, I knew I had to take the risk. It turns out this $3,000 auction car was hiding over $11,000 in modifications, including a massive front-mount intercooler, upgraded turbo components, and high-end coil over suspension. The best part? The "catastrophic" engine issue that scared everyone else off only took about $40 and a few minutes to fix. In this video, we’re tearing into the mods, totaling up the build, and seeing if this is the biggest auction deal OR flip of the year. Wow a video that shows me a cool car, fixes the issue, AND showed me the troubleshooting process? Making me feel like a mechanic
Someone LOVED that car...
In the early 2000's when I was looking to get into a new car, I really fancied the Cooper S. Test drove it and was in love. Then got to the financing department and was blown away how much my payments were going to be so I left the dealer disappointed. I eventually landed in a MK4 GTI which I loved and was so happy I made that choice. I do see some newer Mini in the area but they seem to be bigger and bloated nowadays.
My mind is blown. Valve Cover Gasket so bad it's introducing un-metered air through PCV system? Wow. Nice video...like out of the park.
Killer deal! I wish I found that! I just bought a 2012 Cooper S for more $ and its now apart in my garage. Lol I'd keep it and drive it for sure, super fun cars.
Great daily driver, lots of fun.😊
Dropping the plugs down the holes and hearing them bonk off the bottom made me cry
I like the jazz soundtrack. Nice!
Love the beginning on investing, so funny.
I can’t believe Mini’s are made by BMW since 1999, such a slept on car tbh
That’s a great job the after Market head cover sure look good but it just would not know after installing that you’re so excited. It’s just off by a little bit, but that oil can slip into the other cylinder.
Very funny with the intro! Props to you Sam
i have an r56 very similar to this, and let me tell you, its worth every penny
keep it on and do more to it love to see more on the mini r56
Keep it they are fun to drive.
You are good at what you do when fixing these used cars. Incredible!
I own a 2005 MINI Cooper and I say give it some love. Yhey are very fun and engaging cars to drive and deserve life far more than some SUV or giant truck.
You did good on that Mini. The older turbo GTs used a Renault engine & they leaked oil worse than an old Detroit diesel. They used o-ring seals & the whole front of the car needs to come apart to replace all the leaky seals.
I actually like everything about this one. I would keep it together
oil in the spark plug wells is a common problem on the NA/NB Miata. High miles Miatas the gasket gets hard and starts to leak into the plug well. Once the oil gets in there and soaks the plug wire, THAT is the source of the misfire. I've changed out dozens of valve cover gaskets on Miatas, and a new gasket along with plugs and wires solves the problem. This is one of the easiest fixes for misfires out there, and it is the FIRST thing I look at when someone comes to me and expresses concern about a misfire.
