Worth remembering an equally important pioneer, Saab: Split brake circuits, side impact protection, energy absorbing safety cage, collapsing steering column and pedals, anti whiplash head restraints, headlight washers, DRLs, and severe crash testing vs trucks/ buses, head-on, compound (multi car), all safety features were also free never “behind a paywall”

My wife is a member of the Volvo Saved my Life club. 55MPH into a creek bank 'avoiding left of center driver', her 1989 240's nose was 3 feet shorter, the engine was pushed under the floor, and all 4 doors still opened and closed.
