Turns our North Oaks has been invading their own privacy this whole time with these things called Flock cameras. So that info sent me on a 2 month deep dive investigating America's surveillance system. I came out the other side having been a changed man. So I took the Streetview images of North Oaks down. And immediately reuploaded them to mapillary, an open source mapping project. (also available on OpenStreetMaps) Explore the flock camera map here: deflock.me

Rich people wanting their little society to be unmapped i wonder where i heard this one before
Nothing makes you feel safe like the sentence "You can´t take a breath of fresh air without us noticing."
No they are not right: Cameras track people, you completed a map, not surveilling any people.
They CANNOT whine about their privacy and then at the same time have the criminals at flock watching them 24/7
"Kind of dystopian"? Brother, I think we're full on dystopian now
Love the, “I can’t say we’ve had that level of success yet,” fully admitting that mass surveillance doesn’t actually make anyone safer, but it does make us less free.
Should have stood your ground. There is no expectation of privacy unless locked behind doors and blinds shut. This is the Streisand effect. And they deserve all the publicity.
Funny thing privacy seems to be a exclusive for rich people only. Who could have imagined 😱🤣
some guy in washington state got the FLOCK cameras removed from his city by doing a FOIA request for all FLOCK info. it was going to cost the city millions, so they got rid of flock instead. Edit: it wasn't an expense issue. The city tried to say it wasn't public info and a judge said it was, so the city shut it down.
Funfact: flock cameras are INSANELY easy to gain access to. They have very little, if any, penetration prevention (largely because its just a camera) but this means that you could map North Oaks with their own cameras.
Flock is fully compromised and has no encryption. You can track people with them now.
“If they CAN do it, they probably WILL” If they CAN do it, they absolutely, 100% without a doubt, ARE doing it.
“Flocks for license plates!” Then puts them up on playgrounds
Didn't we do this before with Edward Snowden? The FBI agents were watching their own exes with their own surveillance
if i recall correctly it was recently ruled that flock cameras are considered public domain in whatever they produce, and so suddenly a lot of those cameras have been reported as "off"
I wonder how many tech savy predators have already used flock cameras to figure out when their next victim is regularly alone by tracking their daily routes. If cops are using them to keep tabs on their X's you can guarantee they've been used for much worse
So funny how they think that they're exempt, when they have flock security cameras which are being fed to law enforcement 24/7 🤣
Amazon owns Ring. Amazon has a partnership with Palantir. Ring cameras could be used for mass surveillance, including eavesdropping in private homes.
Day by day Orwell's book keeps turning to reality
"Oh no! My privacy! Now people will know what our neighborhood roads looks like😱😨😡"
