They were just moments away from releasing this chimpanzee back into the wild when something unforgettable happened. As soon as he stepped out of the box and looked around, he didn’t run off—he walked straight back to one of his rescuers. They hugged tightly, as if it were their final goodbye. But it wasn’t over yet. While everyone waited for him to begin his new life, he surprised them again. Instead of heading into the wild, he turned around, approached his other rescuer, and pulled her into a long, gentle hug. It was as if he knew… this might be the last time he’d ever see her.
