Yesterday on class we literally saw this story! The only thing different was that the bird actually talked to the plant who told him he had to sing to get the rose. So the bird sang and sacrificed itself to become the rose the kid wanted.

That's not how I remember the story, the nighting gale found a rose tree with a single rose on it (it’s unrealistic I got it from a kids book) but the tree said to get the rose, he had to sacrifice himself for the rose, so the bird did it. It stabbed his heart into a thorn and as the blood fed the rose, the nightingale used all of its strength to give the boy the rose, and did it but then it died and the girl had another boy to the prom already.

This is emotional even though it's a fiction story

In the original story the bird loved the boy an ( after finding a white rose) killed himself so the ''ketchup" could go on the flower

In the original book the nightingale found a white rose and had to use their blood to turn it red and that's why they died
