This probably has more to do with fixed and mobile traffic cameras. The glare affects the cameras view.

What is the bloody point of them though? These things literally exist to take people's money. The only thing they achieve is alerting other people that you buy stupid shit.
The "4wd" scene is stuck buying things that they see on other people cars. Most 4wd drivers are stuck in the loop. Of buying then buying again. The very people that tell them to save money from the channels that they watch are the very same people that tell you to buy these items. Always has to be "kitted out" you always see them cook from a slide out drawer system. Whats wrong with cooking on your tailgate. Thats the issue. They see, they want, they buy. They dont need. For example who actually needs a 2 to 4k for an awning? It shades you from the sun and saves you from getting wet in the rain, whats wrong with a 200 dollar one.
The stainless drop visors on just about every truck in Aus kick off 14 times the reflection then those dash shades

Addressing the acting like an idiot bit... Few years ago, when lightbars were becoming a thing, I had a beefy one mounted on top of my bullbar. I was heading to the Otways with some mates and we pulled into a servo. I took a slightly wrong turn and had to back out past a police vehicle with my trailer. It was closer than what I would have liked but did touch... When I parked the officer walked up, asked how bright the bar was, so I showed him. He then proceeded to ask if I knew that it was mounted illegally, to which I replied that I didn't. I asked if I need to remove it, he replied - when you get home. He also said it was to nice a day for extra paperwork. All officers I've encountered were just going about their job. Treating them well and not being a 🔔, is the fastest way to be back in the road
I’m in WA and have had mine on for the past 3 years. Used to work as a public servant for WAPOL and had to park my vehicle in an area full of traffic cops and no issues. I sit quite high in my seat so I can still see my bonnet clearly.
I've done over 50,000kms in my 70 series, most of Australia and never had sun reflection off bonnet, they are just a social media wank, wear sunnies 😎
Automobiles have been around for well over 100yrs and now we need dash shades. Solving a problem that doesn't exist. All for looks and follow the crew like sheep.

I'm surprised one of the photographers/videographers in the crew couldn't answer this question. Angle of incindence eqals angle of reflection. Anyone half ass competent with photographic lighting should know this. Even I know this. So there are locationsa and times of day when the shade will reflect light directly back at the observer. I don't know if the intensity will be blinding, but depending on the relationshoip between the light source the observer and the shade/mirror the light will reflect. The difference in view height thing Ugghgh!!!! My driving instructor gave me the simple rule of thumb: if you can't see where the rear tirs touch the ground on the car in front of you at the lights, your too close. Then had a go at me because *he* (short ass without a basic grasp of geomtery) couldnt see that.
Compared to badly adjusted headlights and numpties who don't dip their high beams, I don't see these things as much of a problem unless you want you car to look good, LOL
But what is the actual point of the small front windscreen shade? What is the problem it is fixing?
You should never be putting suction cups on window tint according to the experts in the window tint industry
