A set of hydraulic crimping plyers a ferral and solder was the way to go for the cable replacement, Mat that joint has high current going through it, I love your stuff, but the soldering was absolutely terrible, you can't leave it like that ! that will end up a high resistance joint and get hot as it's not properly mechanicaly crimped and soldered.

Matt, love your videos, but you cant solder. Big blobs are bad. Solder will naturally wick into the wires when done properly. That baby soldering iron will never work on a wire that size. Those channel locks arent good enough either for the crimp connection. You need decent battery lug crimper.

I don't want to be that guy, but there is a tool that will crimp with proper pressure on that battery cable. My advice is not to mess with the mains improperly.

You popped the fuse when you arced it out. Also, you need to open up the crimp first before you put the wire back into it and re-solder it. Be careful with the heat that you apply during soldering it also as that also can cause the fuse to burst. Hope you do a much more professional job on that with the new fuse. First effort was horrendous.

Hi matt! Smaller channel here! next time you solder a battery terminal just use that big torch you used for the heatshrink. you need a lot of heat to get that solder all the way in the thick copper wire. You can also use Flux, a fluid wich makes the solder flow better. Bad electrical connections causes heat. It's like friction. So the poorly connected battery connector will get crazy hot when high amps are pulled through it. Re-Do the one you have on or get the new one and mount it the right way. You can save the car from burning down! 😅
