Tennis players must provide their whereabouts for an hour every day when they are available for drug testing. If they miss three, they face a ban. I have nothing against the players. It's the system which treats different players with terrible standards. A player faces 4 years banned for missing a test. Another player faced 3 months suspension, on a convenient schedule, for actually testing positive for doping, twice. It's ridiculous.
As Andy says it's totally dependent on the factual details. Speculation about a player is silly until the facts are determined.
sinner and iga got away just a joke and a slap in the face
Punishment of 4 years is cruel
I'm more baffled by the fact she had a panic attack from someone simply knocking on her door - does she live in the middle of nowhere with 0 visitors at all times or something?
Too much!
No player in any sport should ever get more than six months for such things. For me it’s either a lifetime ban or six months (or some period of time that an athlete can feasibly recover from and upon return still continue with their career in competitive form). We can’t be destroying people’s futures and livelihoods for accidents or small doses of banned substances, such consequences need to be for truly serious crimes and something like this or the mishap with Sinner doesn’t cut it.
Hmmmm reeks of double standards, she should’ve just given them 2 positive tests of Clostebol instead, that way she would only serve a 3 month ban 😊
Ban Sinner got 4 years please
“Someone knocked on her door and she had a panic attack” Tell me you’re Gen Z without telling me you’re Gen Z
My goodness. Can we find a way not to ban a Wimbledon champion, & Roland Garros finalist, if she’s in-fact clean?
A panic attack when players are tested constantly at all times? Unreasonable.... doesn't make sense.
Players ARE required to submit to tests outside of hours if she is it at home Andy. You are incorrect on this.
Sadly, she isn’t Sinner or Swiatek.
If she tests positive she could just say that a member of her team have it to her by mistake right? Precedence seems to be there for that now and I'm saying this as someone who doesn't even disbelieve Sinners story
Players that get suspended miss normally at least 3 tests. It’s not just this one. And the penalty is normally one year.
We know they didn't treat all players the same. That's the issue. Just like umpires, referees, they're the one to keep the game fair
Appeals, no?
My god. Can you be serious? These are millionaires that can't conform to the basic requirements of the sport? I have no sympathy for this. Just get a ring camera and stop with the f'ing excuses.
This is such a load of crap!!! I hope they are wrong and Marketa is vindicated.
