Surely the guy who conned the UK into Brexit will surely fix the country. Surely.
This is happening in every developed country, where the GDP is growing however, people are getting poorer while wealthier people are wealthier. It’s happening here where there is a huge class divide, and successive governments have done nothing about it.
It's not about left or right. It's top vs bottom. The rich get richer and the rest of us rot. They distract with BS culture war stuff so we don't remember what our grandfathers knew about CLASS SOLIDARITY
This started under Thatcher, she closed industry, she sold of public infrastructure, she sold off public housing, tax cuts for the wealthy, ongoing austerity measures and then they walked away from the biggest common market in history...any surprises?
Privatisation. We're all poorer for it and no amount of tax cuts are going to fix the problem.
Top 1% of wealthy Australians own 24% of houses in the market.😢 Inequality has been skyrocketing for decades in Australia, too.
and us Aussies are on the same trajectory
Canada, the US, Australia etc. etc. We're all using the same, tired financial policies and this is what we'll continue to get. Wealth inequality will always mean poverty for most of us so that a few billionaires can stomp around with more money than they can ever even spend.
The Royals and the peasants
The class system just never changed.. I'm so glad that my ancestors were sent to Australia. Literal paradise 🙏
Changing leaders will never fix this problem. People need to accept difficult choices and politicians need to stop trying to be popular.
Nobody can fix Britain. Beware of hucksters peddling promises.
You can thank Thatcher for this. Seeing the fruits of her policies now.
Tbh how much of this is new? Britain has always had a brutal class system, and poverty. The period from post war to Thatcher was the anomaly
There's money in making promises, there is no money in following through
All the bogan poms are moving to Australia 😢
This is sad. You see how politicians can destroy a country?
Rosendale was part of the 14yr Tory government who applied austerity while protecting and rewarding the bankers that crashed the economy , they alongside Farage sold us a pack of lies to get the idiotic Brexit and put trade restrictions on ourselves. .
Well that's depressing! I am originally from Hull, my ancestors all fishermen and fishwives etc. I moved to Australia from Hull at the age of 17. My life is so far removed from this mess and for that I am grateful. Very grateful.
And to think that England….the British Empire was once the envy of the world. The reason why the British were successful was expanding their Empire's success was driven by its early industrialization, a dominant Royal Navy, and strategic global commerce, which enabled it to control 25% of the earth's land and population by 1913. Key factors included a secure island geography, the innovative use of joint-stock companies (like the East India Company), and an intense focus on economic profit through exploitation and trade.
