The Nemegt Formation in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia was a Late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) river system that supported a diverse array of dinosaurs, including the apex predator Tarbosaurus, large sauropods (indicated by footprints), the duck-billed Saurolophus, the long-clawed Therizinosaurus, and various ornithomimids like Gallimimus. Other dinosaurs found there include ankylosaurs, oviraptorosaurs such as Nemegtomaia, and troodontids.
