The thing with push presents is that once the baby is born, the birthing parent tends to be associated solely with the role of "mother". Gifts they get? Are usually actually gifts for the baby. The idea of push presents came around to reinforce that the primary caregiver is still an individual and they are deserving of gifts of their own that have nothing to do with their kid. When both of my sisters in law were pregnant, I remember asking my husband to talk to his brothers and ask them what their *wives* needed, because I wanted to gift something for *them*, along with something *for the baby*. But a push present is definitely not meant to be something lavish like a car - the OP's wife was definitely falling for some very toxic TikToks considering what she was demanding.
If I just gave birth I would’ve asked that my push present is a cleaning company to come in one a week or every two weeks and reset my bathroom kitchen and clean my floors. Having a new car or house does not give you any real advantage to taking care of your child
