My husband died while I was in labor. My family didn't tell me until after my daughter was born. I thought he was just missing the birth on purpose and the stress of that nearly killed me. Once they told me my heart stopped skipping beats and my blood pressure went back to normal. They should have told me to begin with bc the 12 hours of not knowing nearly killed me and my daughter too.

Pregnant friend story: There are infections that can affect the health of the baby as well as the mother, so I actually think it was important to tell her asap so she can get tested and treated. Also, as a mother of 3, I'd much rather deal with any moving and legalities etc *before* the baby is born.

For the story about the documentary, i think all OP needs to look at to know if they did the right thing is their friend's reaction. Their friend THANKED THEM for telling her the truth.
