I call this "The Side Effects of Being Human" after compiling the list of topics provided by viewers and seeing how it looks like the side effects listed on a prescription drug label. Says a lot about our species. I “act” as a supportive friend while rowing my boat down a winding stream of consciousness that contains my unadulterated thoughts, views, feelings, advice, knowledge and experiences on a wide variety of mental health topics primarily suggested by viewers that they themselves or someone they know are dealing with. I also swear. A lot. I get very emotional and defensive whenever I talk about how people are mistreated in this world. What can I say, I wear my heart proudly on my throat. Please remember - if you are having suicidal thoughts, dealing with severe depression, self-harm, etc., please seek a professional, call a national or local hot-line, emergency office, etc. 00:00:00 Intro 00:11:55 Fire symbolism 00:22:00 The list of viewer provided topics 00:24:50 Lack of mental health education 00:37:39 Suicidal thoughts & suicide 00:44:23 The animal inside us - Fear & anger 00:46:58 Ignorance (bigotry, racism, sexism, etc.) 00:52:37 We're all perfectly imperfect - Fake people & inadequacy 00:54:45 Being balanced 00:57:30 Makeup, Fear of social rejection 00:59:00 Don't let the wrong people rent your headspace 00:59:58 Pick your head up! Honestly rift, youre a special person.
I genuinely like this guy
not enough men talk about mental health, im a 16 year old boy and i think it’s about time boys felt like they can talk about mental health
You don't act like a caring friend. You are. You are also a wonderful human being and you saved me today, from a lot of pain and self-loathing. Thank you so much for that. Please know that your help really changes lives.
Over three years after you posted this it saved my life. Not only did I feel too foolish and embarrassed to call a suicide hotline, I was more comfortable listening to this and fighting my demons on my own. You made me feel loved and I haven't had that in a while. I want to thank you for this. From the heart. Whether or not you meant this for me or for someone else, I feel the love and because of you my 1 year old boy will grow up with a father.
good video. I also know what it's like to go through hell in life. I lost my wife to diabetes 3 years ago a week before our birthday ( we were the same age, only a day apart). we had a 2 year old daughter whom I was left alone to raise. after her death, every night when I went to sleep I experienced sharp pains in my chest and my arms would go numb. I thought, every night, that I was going to have a heart attack. this was such a strong feeling for me that i feared night time, and became an insomniac. I couldn't sleep because I knew out would happen again, I feared out happening again, and every night for 3 years it happened, so many times I rushed to the e.r thinking I was going to die, I became nauseated and would get sick in the toilet, the e.r doctors told me there was nothing wrong with me, it was all in my head...I thought my life was over, I'd never be able to cope. I've had doctors try to put me on anti depressants, nothing worked, anti depressants made it worse but made those same feelings come through the day as well. finally I found a doctor I could talk to. I explained to her my situation, she suggested a counselor, I was never the type to see a counselor, I didn't want to see one, I always thought only people with mental disorders should see them, but I went, I saw a counselor anyway, we talked, he asked me about things in my life that stressed me out, what was causing me anxiety, why I felt like I was having a heart attack, I explained to him how I blamed myself for my wife's death. after hearing my life's story he explained to me I was perfectly fine, he told me I was having anxiety attacks. after doing research and listening to other anxiety sufferers stories, I realized that's exactly what it was. he explained to me that the reason I was having these attacks was because I want dealing with her death the way I should be. I held it in, I tried to ignore it, not because I didn't live her, not because I didn't miss her, but on the contrary, I did love her, I did miss her, I just didn't want to hurt, so I tried to push my emotions aside, he gave me some amazing tips, which I thought "yeah right, this won't work for me, this is stupid" but I went along with it and it did help. ive not had an anxiety attack now for awhile, while my wife's death still does bother me, I've realized it wasn't my fault, I did for her everything that I could possibly do. it doesn't take those feelings of hurt and lonliness away, but I've learned to deal with them. just know if your like me, don't hide your emotions, don't hold it in under the facade off being strong, hiding your feelings doesn't make you strong, dealing with them is what makes you strong, everyone goes through pain, hurt, loneliness, remember, it's not that you survived the storm, it's how you got through the storm that makes you who you are. suicide is never the answer. suicide causes more harm than good. no matter who you are there is always someone out there who cares for you. even if sometimes out doesn't seem like it. before you consider suicide, consider this, who will you be hurting by you ending your life? I know one thing, I have my daughter, she depends on me, she lost her mother, I couldn't ever take her father away from her as well, just please understand that only death is permanent.
Whether you are new to this little video of mine or are watching it again, I just wanted to drop in after all these years (after noticing people still commenting and watching) to say that I wish you nothing but the best as you travel down and forge your own path in life. There may not be any guarantees from one day to the next, and we all have to make the best of the hand we are dealt. Just try your best to enjoy and make the most of the good times, and to overcome and get through the bad times. Peace, ER
If ASMR therapy ever takes off and goes "mainstream," future generations will read about and watch ER as perhaps the most innovative performer of his time, and someone who laid the foundation for future generations. I really believe ER has a grand idea of what ASMR could be.
people fear what they do not understand
After being bullied on the bus, I came home and watched this. It helps so much.
Being human is hard man
I just found this video today - August 1, 2019. I have a tattoo that reads “this too shall pass” I got it a couple years ago, when I finally started going uphill in my daily battle with mental health. The self-harm and suicidal thoughts are finally over
This dude is like the bob ross of ASMR
I'm not allowed to draw on the walls.
The dislikes are people who fell asleep and their hand slipped..
"You need to find solace in your situation. You need to find the good in the situation." This is great advice that I think works in many different life situatons ^_^ Sometimes it's easy to let the negative things in life get you down, even when there are a lot of good things happening. This quote from you is something I'll keep in the front of my mind. I haven't made it all the way through this video yet, but thanks for being so relatable and helpful, Paul.
You're my favourite ASMRtist. It's so rare to find high quality, intelligent, DECENT people. To be genuinely decent you have to have thought about shit A LOT. That's how I can tell you're decent. Because you're so thoughtful. Life is not simple and there are no simple answers. It's only the assholes who'll tell you it is. Please keep going.I was having an excruciatingly bad day, and you're SUCH a help. These vids are higher quality than your others because they're not just ASMR (which you're great at btw), they're life enhancing.
Dear anyone reading this. You are immensely beautiful and are truly deserving of happiness. <3 Love you!
You mentioned an analogy about being a flower and getting trampled. Us guys tend to give each other a hard time (both online and in person), but after watching this it reminds me that I might be guilty of that at times. Just because we're comfortable with something, doesn't always make it okay to joke about. One man's joke could be another man's struggle. Thanks E.R.
Can’t believe anyone disliked this, this dude is solid🙏
