Diagnosed with anxiety at 14, fainting spells in high school, and rotisserie chickens at sleepovers (it’ll make sense). In today’s GRWM I'm opening up about what anxiety looks like for me. Medication, therapy, and the support system that got me through it. Plus, I answer some WWADs and share 3 things that actually help me to quiet the voice in your head. Love you!! yes.. im always anxious about getting anxious. like "what if I have a panic attack rn??" que the panic attack.
It helps to accept it as well, especially if its related to something like throwing up. Accept that you feel nauseous, remind yourself you never actually throw up, tell yourself its okay if you do.
Every feeling you described is exactly how my anxiety manifests for me. Medication has helped so much! Thanks for sharing, it’s nice to have your thoughts and feelings validated.
Yesss… the health anxiety is so real. It’s so tough to get out of the spiral once it starts. Thank you for sharing more on this 💜
Thank you so much, Alix for sharing this. I have been struggling with anxiety since I was around 14 and now that I’m 21 still learning how to navigate having anxiety as an adult I really appreciate your openness and how honest you are about your journey with anxiety. I can relate to you so much. this is why I love to watch all your videos keep being you
Thank you for posting this. I have never found someone who feels the exact same way. It helps knowing that I’m not alone in this. 💗

this is crazy i’ve literally had the almost exact same story. and still deal with it daily. but also do social media as my full time job and have figured out how to not let take over my daily life. thank you for sharing ❤
I, like you, had my first panic attack at 14. I had absolutely no idea what was happening, which only caused more distress. From that day onward, life got a whole lot harder. I was taking multiple panic attacks a day for over a year, and I was a shell of a human. I looked ill all the time. If I wasn’t having a panic attack, I was stressed beyond words about when the next one was coming. It was torture. I thought I’d never shake it, but at some point, after a few years, it just stopped. The anxious thoughts are still there all the time, but I haven’t had a panic attack in years. I’m so thankful, but I’ll never forget how I felt during those few years of my life. People who haven’t experienced a panic attack before just will not ever get it. It’s easy to dismiss but it really is crippling! So many young girls look up to you, and I’m sure hearing you talk about your experience is so helpful for them. Love you!
Stress induces anxiety for one of my daughters, so she addresses whatever is stressing her out first and it often eases her anxiety. That’s how she explained it to me and lots of people relate.
Book Rec: DARE by Barry McDonagh I love to see people sharing their best tips. When I was at my worst, this book really helped give me a new perspective on accepting things. Therapy and meds have been my ultimate life changer. The more scared you are of anxiety the worse it will be. DARE Defuse Allow Run Toward Engage
If you’re feeling anxiety, remember to HALT.. never let yourself get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. It can help aid in reducing or preventing anxiety!
I've never heard someone explain this so perfectly! Exactly how I felt when my anxiety first began.
what people don't understand is that anxiety disorder isn't synonomous with stress. For me, my anxiety never leaves. It is a constant state of being -not being 'stressed' about an exam coming up. Anxiety is very physical and solidified into the way my brain works (with constant racing thoughts) and then translated to my body with my heart racing and picking at my thumbs.
I got diagnosed with GAD as well and relate to the spacey feeling. It could be derealiztion/depersonalization where you feel things aren’t real. I also need to have high protein snacks and something sweet on me because I fear my blood sugar will drop and I will pass out. I’ve been through many panic attacks and suffered in silence - I look normal on the outside. But learned to let my friends know I need to step out to calm down and let the anxiety/panic attack pass. Thanks for sharing!!
So, anxiety comes in a bunch of different forms! It doesn’t always have to be crippling for it to be considered “anxiety” instead of “stress”. I have anxiety, but I don’t have crippling panic attacks. My anxiety stems around time. I’m always anxious about what is coming up next, how much time is it going to take, what do I have to do for the day, etc. I don’t have panic attacks about it and I’m able to go on with my day and what I’m doing, however I am still anxious without the physical conditions. Anxiety is the constant thinking of something, with or without the physical symptoms.
Omg my story is so so similar. I was on the brink of passing out at a concert and from there on out was convinced I had a medical issue. Then was diagnosed and it all made sense
Hi Alex. Love how comfortable you are discussing your experience with Anxiety. I was raised to keep your troubles inside (I’m in my early 50’s) so I never spoke up when I was experiencing shortness of breath after dealing with toxic issues at work. This changed when it seem that I couldn’t hold it in anymore and I started losing my breath and then started screaming for my mom (I don’t remember doing it, but my son said I was). I read that eating sour candy causes you to react to the sourness and that triggers you to refocus from your panic or anxiety. I will tell you that it does works for me alongside talking in therapy. Thank you for your bravery and allowing others like me a space to talk about it.
I needed to see this video. About 2 months ago I passed out at a nail salon for some reason and ever since then I have been randomly starting to feel like I am going to faint again anytime I leave the house! my doctor wants to test me for seizures and it’s totally freaking me out! But when I was younger I used the throw up every time I left the house and we found out it was anxiety- seems like my anxiety has now returned in the form of passing out. I’m so thankful for this video, it makes me feel so much better about these feelings I get. I can truly relate to almost everything that Alix says in this video. ♥️
