I'm Indian, and my cousin's wedding had 700 guests in attendance... like are we inviting everyone we've ever made eye contact with?

I'm Mexican American and I didn't have a wedding because I would have to invite everyone. My dad has 11 siblings and my mom has 10 siblings, they're all married and have 2 to 5 kids each. Half of my cousins (which I have 56 first-cousins) are married and have 2-4 kids. And that's not including all the second cousins and family friends we're super close to. It would have been 300+ people just for my side of the family.

I'm not sure if I even know 200 people. Plus, that much attention on me would give me anxiety. 😅

The first character is based on a woman from a viral video that couldn't invite too many friends because she and her fiance have a huge family. The person she's talking about assumed she was invited and the bride had to tell her she couldn't. The bride felt they weren't very close anymore because they didn't spend time together, they only interacted to share memes and the friend didn't include her in a girls trip. Tbh I think it's messed up how people are treating the situation. It's her wedding and weddings are expensive.... she should be able to prioritize friends who are closer to her and her family

Honesty if you could only have some guests and barly see that person then I think it's fine to not invite them

Ok but with the American perspective, weddings are insanely expensive and your paying per person (can't speak for how true this is for different Asian cultures). If I'm doing under 100 people, I'm not inviting people who are not as present in my life. I'll still invite old friends and people who have been significant even if we hang less now, but it's not worth the cost to invite everyone you've ever been friends with

My cousin's marriage was literally called an elopement by my extended family because there was no wedding ceremony. They went to the courthouse and married with only both parents to sign witness forms (not even their siblings attended). And NO she's not pregnant. It's been 2 years and no baby or miscarriage. They just don't want the stress of wedding planning. Yes, we're asian. 😂

Yup. Arab weddings too. They invite classmates, coworkers, family, friends of family, friends of friends of family. Heck. Invite the country while we’re at it.

As a Filipino, I can confirm. Recently attended a wedding for my mom's two coworkers. The guests consisted of family members, coworkers, and whoever they just happened to invite. I don't even know these people, and i was still there.

So asians have bigger budgets

Tbh the first one that is being regrrenced was someone she hadnt seen or spoken to in 7 years and had previously not invited the girl to events due to "space reasons" lol. Like if my friend didn't even invite me to the girls trip with our specific friend group I would assume she doesn't consider me a close friend anymore either She also could only invite 100-120 and had 80 first cousins lol. She said over 100 of her spaces went to family
