Funny thing is, if I remember correctly, they did this only to trigger a clause in Alonso's contract but Alonso won the very next race on pure pace alone so all that trouble was for basically nothing.

Piquet's life wasn't in danger, he just did an early hard throttle at the start of the turn, so the car lost its control, did a 180° turn and hit its rear in the wall It was a "low" speed crash, Piquet was fine but the car got destroyed and that triggered the safety car
