It's because he comes across as big tough stoic guy and then he says a half joke in a funny accent so it's funny to us. Plus there's a very lax attitude to just laugh at everything here

I think Americans are caught off guard when he speaks because they’re used to media trained responses from players. Adams is just honest and genuine, reminds me of Barkley. Everyone loved Chucks brutal honesty. He was also funny and still is

I think Steven's just honest and genuine and doesn't take things too seriously, but Americans don't expect that so it really disarms them when he comes out with something blunt or a bit amusing. 😊 He also steadfastly refuses to big himself up and they aren't used to that!

He is half right. He is definitely a funny guy but as an aussie, I think it is just more common to find funny people here and in New Zealand than it is in the U.S. Us, kiwis and the British just seem to have a better sense of humor than the U.S does and I don't know why

It's the contrast of the PR statement vs the authentic statement. You don't have to be funny when every other interview the person says fucking nothing but PR get through this so I don't get fined answers. It's "funny" because of the novelty. Steven Adams seems like a chill fucking dude, but I completely agree with him. Most of the "funny" things aren't actually "funny" they are just honest in a sea of talking points, which is different and makes people laugh.
