If you go into first then reverse sometimes it works old transmissions work like that

An old trick I used to do on pick up of mine with the same deal of not going in reverse put it in first gear then reverse usually works every time
My.jeep had a similar issue I found going into first gear then reverse worked but every sittation is different ofcourse!
