UN Human Rights office condemns Israel's detention of flotilla activists

The UN Human Rights office condemned Israel's detention of Thiago Avila and Saif Abu Keshek, activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla. An Israeli court in Ashkelon extended their detention on Tuesday for another six days, after already extending it by ten. The two activists were abducted in Greek waters from their boat in the flotilla on 30 April and taken to Israel where they have since been detained, sparking condemnation from international human rights groups. 175 people were also taken into custody after Israel intercepted 22 boats and moved to the Greek island of Crete.
