Greta Thunberg interview: world on climate precipice but activism offers hope

It's bleak because we are treating the people trying to highlight the crisis like they are nutters when it's the people and politicians who keep talking about it like there is nothing they can do or we aren't moving fast enough.

She is so much more articulate than most of the politicians in Westminster - and all in a second language!

Basic message - it is not about me, or my opinions, it's about the world and my moral obligation to do everything I can to avoid catastrophe.

This just reinforces for me how frustrating the British media is...they are not interested in letting people tell their story, just chastising them with the same talking points and focusing on low hanging soundbites like what her opinion would be on specific politicians

Being pessimistic isn't a bad thing, it means sometimes the hard-core truth is right there.

I read her book, it helped me see that our house is on fire. She is honest, truthful, doesn’t make a penny. She cares about the planet, that is all.

Great segment and a very important message. It's 34 degrees in Spain and France right now and that's the forecast for another two weeks in November, maybe even longer. It might sound great for some but wildfires and dried out rivers important for transportation of our food is no joke and indications of something far more serious so let's listen and take action. As a Swedish person I'm happy that Greta has worked on her delivery and that she also shows her natural sense of humour, it benefits her important message.

Why is the interviewer trying to lead greta into specifically commenting on british politics, bizarre

Don’t go on British TV Greta unless you want to be endless patronized by someone asking essentially the same question over and over

How many times did Greta have to assert that focussing on individual’s decisions to go to COP is not really the point? The interviewer seemed frustratingly out of touch, trying to push the crux of the interview down a direction that wasn’t helpful. Thought Greta handled that really well.

I've been at XR protests, everything stopped when ambulances need to get through. Roads were cleared then reoccupied. As for being late for work, it's really that people don;t get how "inconvenient" Drought, famine, and heatbulb temperatures in northern latitudes will be (ie, extinction level) if we continue to do nothing.

I'm hearing you Greta and trying to acting my individual everyday level. Making me worries next year summer terrible heat here in the UK, when everything sear, we having water stop usage. But what is really worries me is my daughter future. I remember the 80s , my childhood, we used to have proper winters with snow, summers with nice, bearable hot days, springs with lots of rain... I could just wish, everyone start acting, but unfortunately when I see my parents and the older generation, they just don't care and they're laugh at me.

Activism without ultimate action is merely useless hope.
