Babasaheb Dr.B. R. Ambedkar embraced Buddhism for dignity, equality, and self-respect. He chose the path of Buddha because it rejected caste discrimination and supported justice, compassion, and humanity. He wanted a society where no person would suffer humiliation because of birth. Babasaheb not only worked for oppressed communities, but also did great work for women of every caste and religion. He supported women’s rights, education, equality, inheritance, and freedom. His reforms helped improve the position of women in Indian society. Reservation was introduced to give opportunities to those who were denied education, jobs, and representation for generations. Because of this, many people moved forward and uplifted their families. Inequality created over centuries cannot be removed in a few years. We should ask ourselves honestly: Is it right to disrespect anyone because of caste or gender? The answer is no. Real progress is possible only when every human being gets equal respect and dignity.

Baba Saheb contribution to Buddhism in 20th century is no less than Dharma Ashokas contribution in 300 BC . We traditional Buddhist are highly indebted to Baba Saheb for resurgence of Dharma in it's original homeland after 1000 years .

Am young Ambedkarite Buddhist and Mr Pattanaik gave very interesting point of view in this video.. Most of the points are agreeable but his point on women in buddhism was quite a harsh take. I feel, compared to any contemporary religion, women enjoy well dignified, modest role in Buddhism and Buddhist history.
