If they can mine the gold, they can also extract the lead, nckel, zinc, uranium, etc. All of those can be extracted & sold for commercial purposes. The simple fact is gold is worth more, so they just dump the rest. It's shameful behaviour in this day & age because we have the technology to do it. SMH

Grew up in benoni / brakpan area we climbed the big minedump in benoni maybe 50 times we used to swim in klienfontien lake at the foot of the minedump also explored all the minedumps from benoni to brakpan rode motorbikes around the chimes tavern area ..and I am still alive 50 years later ... lucky maybe after watching this I feel doomed ...lol😂

Goes to show how bothered these companies are... billions generated per year and they can't even give the crumbs (still a ridiculous amount of money) to the local communities they are effecting... respect to anyone who was in that business and found out what they were causing and gave that job up sadly I can guarantee too many like that money too much. Never seen one insect or bird around the piles of waste or around the contaminated green water. That in itself tells you it's not safe.
Great doc, and I applaud you for trying to do it the right way, but the money is too big. Those people's best chance is to move. That's it. It won't stop. Especially when major brands like that are involved.
