To the OP of the story about Nyx the kitten: Sweetheart you did everything right. Kittens are extremely fragile, especially when separated from mom too early, and cases of bottlefed kittens surviving aren't as common as one would think. Some kittens fall victim to Fading Kitten Syndrome, and that sounds like it's what happened to little Nyx. Know that you were a GOOD pet parent and that Nyx knew nothing but love in her short time with you. I wish you healing in the upcoming days ❤️

the poor person with the sick kitten… i highly doubt being late on one dose would cause the kitten to die. this kitten was probably already very sick/not going to live very long but managed to stick around a bit longer due to OPs care. i really really hope they can let go of the guilt of this situation because it sounds like they did everything they could. rest in peace little nyx, i’m glad you got to spend your short life being cared for by someone who loved you so much.

It's unfortunate, but sometimes sick kittens just don't make it </3 even if they seem to be getting better. We've had plenty of kittens growing up (due to Dad not wanting to neuter his outdoor cat -_- ) its just a really sad part of life. It's not fair and it sucks. Poor Nyx had the best little life she could have had.
Regarding the story about Nyx. I am a vet tech of many years, and as sad as it is, many kittens this young and sick end up not making it, no matter how well you take care of them. They are very fragile and sometimes, the stress dealt to their bodies is simply too great. I know just how devastating and shocking it can be seeing false positives of improved strength and weight gain only to suddenly lose them, but it happens and it is of no one's fault. OP did everything right. A single missed dose of ABs did not make a difference. It was Nyx's time to go and OP gave her an amazing end of life full of love and comfort.
