One thing to understand in cricket is that short term decisions in cricket are made by onfield captains, not "coaches"

Just FYI the team coach in cricket doesn't make the tactical on-field decisions for field placement, bowling, or anything like that. It's entirely up to the team Captain on the field, though obviously there will have been discussions before play about various tactics with the coaches.

At 13.28 they talk about the nine slips fielders and suggest that the coach sets the field, it is the captain who sets the field. Even a game played by under 12 year olds, the 11 year old captain has to figure out where the fielders should be placed.

I was working at Lord's the year after the Michael Bevan beer can incident. Everything was changed because of that one fan. No-one was allowed onto the outfield at the end of the match anymore, which meant we all couldn't just run on to the grass to celebrate a win as we used to - that was always such a thrill. And presentations were moved from balconies onto the outfield.
