These chants are often 20+ years old, if not older. That means they are pretty well known and pretty well "rehearsed". Newer ones often get introduced by a lyric sheet handed out to all the fans at the entrance of the stands by the ultra groups. At least that's how they do it in my local stadium. And yeah, if a chant is new, it often takes a couple of games to really take off, or sometimes it just doesn't resonate with the crowds and disappears.
Galetaseroy probably have the worst reputation in Europe for off the pitch violence. Hence WAR CHANT!

5:53 Millwall & west ham were formed by workers of 2 diff shipyard workers, maybe in 1900. Their match wins were also workplace pride, so they were both violent from the beginning. westham proved their play in later years, while Millwall didn't and remained a smaller club. But hardcore fans didn't want to accept it, and there were physical fights with WH fans even on regular days, even fought with other club fans. The hatred grew on them from others, hence the line 'no one likes us'...
