In a cup match between Manchester United and lower league team at Old Trafford the lower league teams goalkeeper accidentally caught the ball outside the Penalty area and was sent off by the referee after just 10 minutes of the match. He was 17 years old in the biggest match he would probably ever play in. Even the Manchester United players begged and pleaded with the referee the recind the red card and issue a yellow instead. The referee was a right Jobs Worth saying the rules were the rules and refused. The United fans turned against him instantly and made his life hell for the entire match chanting the opposition goal keepers name the entire match in solidarity. That referee has not refereed a match at Old Trafford since, and this was over 10 years ago with the Referee a FIFA endorsed referee.
